What Happened In Toronto - Episode One

Hello again friends!
I have returned from the wilds of Toronto, with quite a tale to tell.  It is such a tale, in fact, that I will need to divide it into a few parts.  (thus the 'episode one')  I would like to pause at this point to acknowledge Mr. Shane Pilgrim for his recent Toronto-centric mini-series, which may be more enjoyable to read than mine.  Unlike our friend Shane, I am going to be very up front about my story by telling you all right now that there is not much of a happy ending here.  Bittersweet, perhaps.  Melancholy, almost certainly.  But, not really happy so much.

Our story begins in a pretty good way.  I set off for Toronto with a couple of friends in search of good times.  We arrived and got some lunch at Yorkdale Mall, where I went into twitchy/nervous mode waiting for Number Three to arrive.  Somehow, my awkward, needless fretting, amused my friends, which helped me to not be quite so nervous.  Eventually, she arrived, and I was wonderfully happy, as all of the nervousness floated out of my head like so many bubbles in the ocean.
Once we were all together, we wandered the area around Casa Loma, noticing various landmarks made somewhat more famous by Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.  (both the film and comics)  After a little of this, my friends and I parted ways, and I accompanied Number Three to her baseball game.  (she's on a recreational team)  The baseball was actually rather fun to watch, although it got slightly cold towards the end.
After this, Number Three and I headed back to her apartment.  We talked about various things, and eventually went to bed, where I spent the night next to her.  There were no adult situations that night, and although I would have appreciated that, I enjoyed it for what it was.  We simply held each other, and shared a special sort of murmuring conversation that I would like to think many other couples share on a nightly basis.  Despite what happened the next day, I know in my heart that those little moments were special, and meant as much to her as they did to me.  For a few moments, I think we both had what we wanted...

Coming soon:  Episode Two!

  1. Dude...I was totally at Yorkdale Mall on Saturday afternoon between 12:30 PM and 2ish PM. Rode the subway from Toronto to the mall. Don't even tell me you were there during that time because the Six Degrees of Separation will literally blow my mind apart. Also, I appreciate the Scott Pilgrim reference lol...although I missed these landmarks during my trip there.

Anyway, I'm seriously intrigued by this entry. Although you say that it does not have a happy ending it certainly seems like it will be heading that way. I'd like to say more, but I'll wait until the next episodes unfold before giving more feedback. Hope to read the rest soon!

  2. Nope, it would have been Monday. I almost wish I had been there that day though.
