In this edition of Love Letters, I decided to shine the spotlight on a few friends of mine, and the awesome sounds that they make!
1. The Want Ads
For those of you who don't already know, The Want Ads are a one-woman act created by the incredible lalalalauren! I discovered this a bit later than others, but ever since I have not been able to keep quiet about it! Her sound is something I can only describe as the post-apocalyptic, potentially insane love child of David Bowie and Jonathan Coulton. Honestly, just click on this, download/buy it, and tell everyone you know, because people need to hear this!!
2. The Tsarista
For those of you who don't follow her blog, The Tsarista is currently working on starting up a career in rap. I'm not all that much into rap, but I like what she does with it! Check it out here!
3. Damn Aykroyd
I went to high school with this guy, and I know for a fact that he's a master DJ, and can mash up sounds like nobody's business. Also, he may give you a new appreciation for the Bee Gees. Check it out.
Jonathan Coulton? As in "Still Alive" Portal end song Jonathan Coulton? Mixed with Bowie? Sweeeeeeet.

ReplyDeleteListened to The Want Ads - they do have a very distinctive sound. I definitely identified with the Bowie-esque portions of their music.
