Adventures With Rose - Episode 2 (Birthday Edition)

Over the last few weeks, my dear Rose was having some anxieties about her birthday.  She would be turning 30, and the thought was slightly upsetting for her.  She often claimed she wanted to just stay in bed, so then the day wouldn't officially have happened for her.  Knowing this, I decided to do some nice things for her birthday.

It all started a few days before her actual birthday.  We met up after she was done work.  Her day hadn't gone especially well, so a few hugs helped right away.  After that, I made her what was possibly the most elaborate dinner I've ever made.  There were a few little hiccups of stress, since Rose wanted to help, and my apartment doesn't really have ample kitchen space, but the end result was delicious, and we had enough leftovers for both of us.
For presents, I got her a gift card, which she later put towards a pair of excellent headphones, and I also made her a music mix full of songs that reminded me of her.  It wasn't all entirely to her tastes, but she appreciated it very much.  Any of you who are curious to hear it can listen here.

I actually made that

Yeah, store bought cake, but still good

Not long after that, we met up again for her actual birthday.  Her family was busy during the day, so we spent a lovely afternoon together.  She came early in the morning, so I decided to leave her some cute little notes, which I stuck up on the walls for when she came in.  She didn't see them right when she came in, but she was just as happy about them when I pointed them out.  She took them down and kept them in her memory box she made, which is filling up faster than I could have imagined.  After some cuddle time that morning, we set off to a local coffee shop, where I bought Rose some much needed coffee (in case I haven't mentioned before, she's a bit of a coffee fiend) and french macaroons, which were so delicious, we had to restrain ourselves from eating them all in one go.  We found a nice little park to sit in and ate them, and then just relaxed outside and chatted for a while.

After this, we stopped briefly at the local comic shop to pick up my comics for the week, and then did some looking around a used book store which was close by.  Rose ended up finding a couple of titles she'd had her eye on.

So, all of these little adventures we had added up to Rose not feeling so bad about getting a year older after all.  After she got home to her family, the birthday love kept rolling in, and she had a wonderful week.  I'm glad I was able to make her feel so happy, and I hope that I can continue to give her great birthdays for many years to come.
